The Harmony of Concrete and Natural Stone

Located in the city of Curitiba in the south of Brazil, Figueiras House is the result of a balanced game between large volumes and light green spaces. It is aimed to integrate the building form with the surrounding forest landscapes. Designed by Beatriz Empinotti Architecture, this building claims to guarantee its users the best natural lighting and ventilation.

The clients, a young couple from São Paulo, have relied on the creativity of the architectural office to develop a project that makes the most of the land, with a large backyard, while protecting their daily lives from street view.

Looking from the street, natural stone was preferred in one of the two overlapping volumes, while the other mass is built out of concrete in shades compatible with the stones. Thus, one can observe the spacieal relationship in the interior by looking at the material on the facade.

In the interiors, modern, vibrant and eye-catching furnishings have been chosen, in contrast to the gray and pastelle palette of concrete and natural stone of the facade.
