Naturally intertwined Stone House

The Mexican design office REA designed a natural stone house on the ancient ruins in Tepoztlan, one of the most important settlements in the Aztec history. The small mountain town where the project is located has a unique character with its rich historical values, ancient stones surrounding the streets and natural vegetation.

The designers have formed a structure with a unique perception of space by combining the stone bedplates with a sharp geometric space and putting together the different sizes and shapes of the stones in a harmonious mathematical proportion. Equipped with materials that are soft and quiet to the eye, the building offers a modern comfort that keeps its user in secret with its facades opening to its private view. The green from the surrounding plants and the deep blue of the fountain in the atrium uniquely adorn this dwelling with natural colors and natural stones.

Stone House with its open plan design that allows the free circulation of light and air, aims to live in harmony with nature instead of creating a barricade against nature. The building has a friendly relationship with the natural components with its sunroof and all other separator units. As the sun rises and sets, the natural light that illuminates the facades of the house allows the building to live all day long.
