Marble to Merge Living Spaces

In this Milan apartment, which was overhauled by the Marcante-Testa design studio, the veined slabs of green and grey marble help to visually connect the living spaces.

Teorema Milanese, previously described as "a typical bourgeois house", was redesigned by Turin-based Marcante-Testa with a rich mix of materials and colours.

The studio was keen to preserve the classic layout of the apartment and therefore decided to make a significant structural change - a partition wall was demolished to create an open-plan living and dining room.

Featuring a light grey cipollino tirreno marble, sculptural armchairs, khaki-green leather sofa and an oversized floor lamp, the seating area becomes a "carpet".

The marble also stretches out part of the wall and ceiling to create a huge window frame that overlooks the tree-lined boulevard below.

Later, dark green verde alpine marble covers the floor and side table of the other half of the room centred with an oval, wooden table.

Burgundy striped salomé marble functions as highlighting the sink in the bathroom together with black faucet mixers.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, sea green cabinets complement the geometric floor tiles that appear in the adjacent breakfast corner. Dark yellow wallpaper with leaf pattern runs from the ceiling above.
