Liquid Marble Installation by Matieu Lehanneur

French Designer Matieu Lehanneur exhibited his 'Liquid Marble Installation' at the Victoria and Albert Museum as part of the London Design Festival.

The work, which is presented on a 30 cm high pedestal, provides a contrasting experience to the visitors with its liquid-looking solid structure. 'Liquid Marble Installation' evokes a surreal sea by imitating the appearance of rippling water.

Lehanneur combines his passion for science, technology, and art in 'Liquid Marble Installation'. And as a result, it offers an alchemical combination. 'Liquid Marble' invites visitors to think while they travel their minds in the depths of the sea to provide a meditative experience.

I’m always trying to understand how the human brain works, and how to put people in a very specific state of mind.’ says Lehanneur. When examined carefully, it is understood that the work does not move, and a real sea feeling is formed as a result of the reflection of the light on the marble.

During the International Gardens Festival, Mathieu Lehanneur places his work in the courtyard of the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire in France. Comprising a single piece of hand-polished green marble designed using 3D software, the surreal object reproduces the effect of wind passing over the surface of the water, transforming an ephemeral moment into something solid.

Lehanneur states that he wants to be the muse of the field with his 'Petite Loire' work, which is a continuation of his 'Liquid Marble Installation' series. As a result, the 'Petite Loire' appears as the perpetual movement of a frozen river.
