Family House in Mexico Featuring Natural Stone and Timber

AA315 family house, which was built in the 1930s, is located in a residential area in the west of Mexico. The house, designed by Blancas Moran, features interesting approaches on natural material usage.

The designer says that the project site is in an L-Shape and that it dictates to design a site plan in this direction. Also Architect Moran states that, he started to design by using environmental conditions and aiming to design a house that opens up to the green exterior and lives with it as much as possible.
‘’The architectural brief is organized in three levels, the first level features the social areas ( living room, dining room, family room, terrace, toilet, kitchen and lobby), the second includes the private areas (master bedroom, small bedrooms, guest room, TV room) and the basement has the services (laundry room, garage, gym , technical areas).’’

All the programs featured on the first level are open to the garden. The second level takes advantage of the L-Shape to divide the private areas.
Since the clients requested low maintenance materials for the house, the architects decided on natural stones and timber in different characters. In this way, the architect created a house living with nature.
