Design An Mor Recycles Waste Paper Into Clay Blocks

Design An Mor recycles organic waste to develop modular furniture pieces. The new project, called Paper Clay, explores the physical and aesthetic properties of paper and turns it into rigid 'clay' blocks.

A Sustainable Future

Paper waste has become a serious problem in many industries and offices over the years. While paper can account for 70% of a company's total waste, a normal office worker can use around 10,000 sheets of paper per year.

In the Paper Clay project, to provide a solution to the industrial paper waste problem, the blocks formed after the paper wastes are converted into blocks can be combined to form furniture such as modular tables, shelving units, chairs, and stools.

Design An Mor, whose three main disciplines are creativity, exploration, and sustainability, presents the entire production process as a cycle, from waste paper to raw materials, from raw materials to finished products in its Paper Clay collections.

Creating Marble Patterns with Natural Mineral

Drawing on research on the properties of waste paper, Design An Mor presents the Paper Clay series as an innovative interior material. With the Paper Clay series, Design An Mor recycles waste paper and produces a 'clay' material, creating a hard structure that can be easily used in furniture design.

A marble pattern unique to each block is created by injecting natural minerals onto the surface of the material, which is created from recycled paper scraps. Due to the diversity of organic paper scraps, each piece of the Paper Clay collection carries the remnants of its pre-recycled state with its unique colors and compositions.
